Smart Medical Technologies' blood processing devices incorporate a revolutionary new technology for separation of components from donor blood. Using this technology, SMT has designed an apheresis device that operates on a continuous flow centrifugation cycle to separate plasma, platelets and red blood cells at twice the rate of conventional apheresis equipment, and to then reconstitute the unused components for simultaneous donor re-infusion.
